What a book. A must read. Haidt shows based of research and statistics safe-parenting approaches and smartphones and social media the cause of mental health breakdown in the youth and children today. Even I as a young Gen Xer, attending University as broadband, high speed internet became available in every dorm room, found myself mirrored back in this book. After showing the damage done, Haidt talks about the sort of life and commitments needed for people to live healthily. As a Christian I was particularly interested in Haidt's approach to spirituality and the positive effects that faith, religion, and participation in ritual, worship, and prayer have on people. At the end he devotes a chapter each to call for action from tech companies, governments, schools, and parents to create healthy contexts for kids to grow. Well done!

I’m a mother of teens and I’m a psychologist who works in a high school. What I most appreciated about the Anxious Generation is the data to back up the Great Rewiring theory. I have spoken to many parents about this topic and they are shocked (but not surprised) by the stats showing the significant increase in depression and anxiety among teens. Most importantly, the author provides concrete actions we can all undertake to improve mental health outcomes for our children. I highly recommend this book.
  • Catastrophic for Girls?

How come? The author must be spending a lot of time in her book (not real) world, much like the Gen Z spend it online (also not real) world. Men and boys are those impacted the most. If you don’t see it, you hate men and should be ashamed of yourself.

It’s honestly scary how phones have taken control of our lives, and in many ways we don’t even notice it. This book does a great job of explaining why we need to let kids be kids again. Let them explore, use their imagination and run around outside instead of just being glued to an interactive computer screen. It also provides many basic solutions in which parents can help steer their children in the right direction. Highly recommend.
